Already paying for a big AI service? Lovely — plug it straight in. Paste your key and I'll use OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google Gemini, Grok, or Perplexity as my brain. Your key stays on your device.
What it is
If you have an API key from a cloud AI provider, you can give me use of their model. I'll use it to read your saves and understand your questions. You bring the key; I bring the tidying.
Why you'll love it
- Use the exact model you already know and trust.
- Often the smartest, most natural-sounding option.
- Your key is stored on your device, not handed around.
How to use it
- Get an API key from your provider's website:
- OpenAI (platform.openai.com)
- Anthropic / Claude (console.anthropic.com)
- Google Gemini (aistudio.google.com)
- Grok / xAI (x.ai)
- Perplexity (perplexity.ai)
- In Bommel Bot, open Settings → AI and choose your provider.
- Paste your key.
- Pick a model from the list and save.
Keep your key private. Treat an API key like a password — don't paste it into screenshots or share it. If it ever leaks, delete it on the provider's site and make a new one.
Good to know
- Adding a key is Free on Bommel Bot's side, but the provider usually charges for what you use — check their pricing.
- Different models cost and perform differently; I show helpful details so you can pick one that fits your budget.
- Prefer not to manage keys at all? Let us run a brain for you on Pro.
