Save by messaging a bot

Most good links show up in your chats. So make your own little bot on Telegram, Discord, Slack, or WhatsApp, and just message it — the bookmark lands in your library.

Here's a little truth: most of the good links you find are already in your chats. A friend sends a video, you spot a shop in a group, someone drops a recipe. So why not save straight from there? You can — by messaging your very own bot.

What it is

You can make a little helper bot — your Bommelbot — on Telegram, Discord, Slack, or WhatsApp. Whenever you send it a link, the bookmark lands in your library automatically. No website, no forms. If you can send a message, you can save.

Why you'll love it

  • Save where you already are, in the apps you already use.
  • No switching to a website every time you find something.
  • Works great on your phone, on the go.

How to use it

  1. Sign in and verify your email (free is fine — a bot needs a cloud vault to save into).
  2. Go to the Channel Setup Wizard and pick a channel.
  3. Follow the guided steps to create and link your bot.
  4. Message your bot a link — it replies to confirm, and the bookmark appears in your library.
Which channel should I pick? The one you already use most. Telegram is the quickest to set up; WhatsApp is handy if that's where your chats live. You can connect more than one.

Good to know

  • Channels are free — any signed-in, verified account can connect a bot. Bot saves count toward your plan's bookmark limit (100 on Free; unlimited on Pro).
  • Right now bots save links and text; pulling a photo or file straight out of a chat isn't wired up yet — add those on the website for now (file attachments are a Pro feature).
  • Your bot only ever listens to you once you've linked it, so nobody else can save into your library.

Even quicker: the browser button

Browsing on your computer and spot something to keep? Pop the little Bommel Bot button onto your browser and clip the page you're on with one click. Like the bots, it works on the Free plan too. See Save any page with the browser button.
